In the time of Moses, part of the
command to the Israelites concerning listening to and obeying the Word of God stated
that:
8 “You shall bind them [the Lord’s commands] as a sign on your hand and
they shall be as frontals on your forehead. 9 You shall write them
on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:8, 9)
If these
commands were to be given today for the first time, then the section above
would probably read something like:
“You shall post them on your Facebook wall
and twitter account. You shall blog about them and record them on podcasts...”
This is simply because with time,
mediums of communication have advanced.
But even with time, the Word of
God hasn’t changed, and the same commission to spread the Word hasn’t as well! Hence
it is upon us as Christians, and especially those who claim to be leaders, to
carry out Moses’ command to continue spreading the Word using these modern forms
of communication.
In his book, ‘The Conviction to
Lead’, Al Mohler states, “Real communication is [also] happening in the digital
world... Leaders have a message, and should be ready to use every appropriate
platform and technology to get it out to others.”
Mohler also states that, “The leadership
that matters most is convictional - deeply
convictional.”
Hence my blog! These are my
convictions!
